About SLOGBA

SLOGBAA: Strengthening Local Governance, Budget Advocacy, and Accountability is a novel initiative by the Network for Active Citizens (NAC) and its members, designed to share capacity and mentorship with Youth Councils and Civil society organizations to contribute to an effective, accountable, and transparent Local government.

The problem SLOGBAA seeks to address is the youth’s limited understanding and lack of value-laden participation in and influence on local government planning, budgeting, and accountability.

The underlying factors causing this problem are

  1. Youth’s limited understanding and appreciation of the local government architecture, processes and entry points to participate in and influence planning and budgeting.
  2. Limited evidence-based engagements by youth in local government planning, budgeting and accountability; and
  3. Limited opportunities for interaction between young people and policy decision-makers and influencers at the local and central government levels.

Our contribution to the solution is the SLOGBAA online learning system, which provides a self-paced learning platform, quick access to youth-relevant policies, Inspiring stories of youth in leadership, an online helpline via WhatsApp, and the ability to book appointments for virtual mentorship and coaching, all in one platform.
