The Active Citizens-AC toolkit is a social leadership capacity enhancement model that promotes intercultural dialogue and community-led social development, with an overall vision of “a world where people are empowered to engage peacefully and effectively with others in the sustainable development of their communities.”

. The program was introduced by the British Council in Uganda in 2013, and in 2017, the Network for Active Citizens (NAC) adapted it as one of its youth empowerment tools. It’s a self-sustaining, very cost-effective model aimed not only at imparting knowledge through training. It also engages the target groups in hands-on experiential learning and in conducting ground assessments, helping them develop solutions to community challenges.

The AC toolkit is the first entry-level module for the SLOGBAA program, with the intention of enabling youth to appreciate social leadership as a social responsibility, not a source of income or privilege.
